Welcome to the website for the NN-PCN PPG

What is the NN-PCN?

Newcastle North Primary Care Network consists of the five practices of Audley, Talke, Heathcote Street, Dr Harbidge and partners (Kidsgrove) and Mount Road Practice (Kidsgrove). We have worked together as a ‘network’ since July 2019 along with community services, the GP federation and the voluntary sector to aim to offer more personalised, coordinated care to the local population.

                                    What is a PPG?

A PPG is a Patient Participation Group. It is made up of volunteers from a GP practice. The NN-PCN PPG is made up of representatives from the PPGs of the five practices within the PCN

Anybody can join and everybody is welcome.

The main aims of the PPG include: -

1. Providing a forum to discuss, plan and develop the best healthcare services for patients of the Practice through a variety of ways:

  • PPG Members – Patients who are PPG Members regularly meet to discuss ways to improve the service, work with practice staff and address any issues raised.

  • Virtual PPG Members - Patients who wish to be kept informed and consulted about services, working with the PPG in a virtual environment.

  • Promoting ways for patients who are registered with the practice to submit their suggestions and ideas (i.e. those who have an idea, but who do not wish to be involved in the PPG directly).

  • Publishing a regular newsletter to keep patients informed of the activities of the PPG & any other information relevant to the patients of the practice.

  • Promoting the work of the practice in the wider community.

  • Encourage and promote health education activities within the practice.

2. Assisting the Practice in monitoring and improving patient satisfaction with the services provided.

3. Helping to inform patients about the different local healthcare services and medical treatments available in the Practice and locally.

4. Working to ensure that the PPG has a wide cross representation of patients registered at the Practice.

5. Representing the Practice locally and nationally when patient voices are required.

6. Being an active member of the Newcastle North Primary Care Network Patient Participation Group (NN PCN PPG).

7. Providing a means for practice staff to inform patients about the reality of running a General Practice and receive feedback from patients.
